Cinderella is NOT the Only Princess

This past weekend the girls and I joined Grandma Sue for a production of Cinderella at Eagan High School.

We always love plays and shows, however this one was very extra special as they invited girls to dress as a princess!!  Can you imagine the excitement?!?

After much deliberation the girls decided that they would like to wear the beautiful gowns that Aunt Shari had made for them to wear as flower girls last summer in Jeremy's wedding.  They also made it very clear to me that they expected to wear lipstick, because of course all good princesses wear lipstick.

Here are the girls all dolled up, fancy hair and lipstick complete:

And here are the girls with Grandma Sue:

As you can see, Grandma made their day by making them true princesses and crowning them each with a tiara.

We had a fancy lunch at Perkins, where the girls were bombarded by compliments of their beauty.  This was enjoyed very much by both of them, and made mom and Grandma both very proud!

We then headed to the play - which started with the girls being registered as Princesses and being whisked away for the Princess Parade.  The crew members of the play started the show by announcing each girls name as they walked across the stage (with a glittery take-home septor in hand of course!) and then the LARGE group of Princesses all took a curtsey and exited the stage to watch the play from their seats.

Here is a photo of all the Princesses on stage (my apologies for the poor quality).  Tehya is the one with her hand up waving:

What a fun day -- thank you Grandma Sue!!!

Sunday

Mani-Pedi Time!

Dan left the girls in the house alone for a few minutes while he went out to the garage the other day, and came back in the house to find this.
Tehya had Ada up on the bathroom sink giving her "spa time"!
An entire bottle of hand soap and a very wet bathroom later, Ada had the best smelling hands and feet around!

Ada and her pretty hair do

Ada LOVES to have ponys in her hair. Typically she is content with one or two little pig tails, but this day she just kept asking for more. She looked so cute with her little ponytails all over her head!

Saturday

Our John Deere Girls

Aunt Shari made both of the girls pretty sundresses.
Tehya always asks when we are going to the farm next and calls herself a John Deere girl, so the denim Deere print material is perfect! Shari made the girls a second set of dresses in another summer John Deere print, which I will post pictures of soon.
Thank you Shari!

Friday

Salon Tehya

I snapped these pictures the other morning when I caught Tehya trying to do Ada's hair for her. Ada didn't seem to mind...except for when Tehya got the comb caught in her curls and yanked on them! "It's not my fault mom - she has squishy hair" is what Tehya told me.

Sunday

Girls Fun Adventure Trip

In celebration of my moms 50th Birthday, and as an excuse to get a bunch of gals together there were 8 of us that took a Mystery Bus Tour weekend trip through a company named Girls Fun Adventures.
With no idea where we were going, the 8 of us boarded the bus in our matching Princess gear (our groups theme) and headed out for a weekend of lots of laughs.
Above is my cousin Oni and I modeling Vikings helmets at the carrousel in Storybook, Iowa. Personally I think we look pretty hot.

Here is the birthday girl on her white horse

And all 8 of us in front of the only remaining swing bridge in the state of Iowa.

Group pose at the worlds largest pitchfork...now come on - where else are you going to find this sort of fun?!?!

We had a great time laughing until we cried a few times...and spit marshmallows out of our mouths a few others. We shopped, explored, played games, had a few cocktails and so much more...all in all a great trip!

Monday

Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend

The day finally came that Tehya convinced Daddy that she was old enough to get her ears pierced. She was SO excited when we went to the store! Despite Mom trying to convince her to get her birthstones, Tehya decided that she wanted diamond earrings like Grandma Sue!
Once the marks were drawn on each ear, Mom got smart and asked the nice ladies at the store if they could pierce both ears at the same time. They agreed and even gave Tehya a teddy to hold on to!
Tehya was quite upset when the piercing took place - apparently it hurt WAY BADDER THAN YOU SAID IT WOULD MOM!!!!
Ice cubes were applied and after promising we could buy more earrings soon Tehya was quite happy with her "big girl earrings".

Thursday

Spa Treatment

Tehya caught me with a face mask on tonight and thought that she should have one on too. After being sick for so many days I had thought that a relaxing bubble bath and a refreshing facial would be rejuvinating - leave it to Tehya to remind me that a silly face contest was needed too!
