Relay for Life 2008

This was the Krisnik family's 5th year participating in the Eagan Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. This was mom's 4th year serving as committee chair and she has decided to step down so that she can participate more with our family's team and other special projects for the ACS. I have decided to remain on the committee for another year (this was my third) in the Luminaria seat. My best friend Steph has co-chaired the position with me for the past 2 years and I dont know what I would do without her! This year we had over 1200 luminaria bags that lined both the inside and outside rings of the walking track - it was beautiful!
I am SO proud of my mom and the wonderful tribute to my dad that she has provided through all of her hard work and dedication to the cause. Because of her there are more and more families every year that benefit from the wonderful things ACS can provide to people and their loved ones while going through a cancer diagnosis.
ACS and our committee presented mom with a beautiful crystal flower vase engraved with our appreciation for her work. She was very surprised, as we knew she would be! I am so proud of my mom - and I know my dad is too.
Nana Yvonne was at the Relay and got to spend some cuddle time with Ada- it looks like they both enjoyed that!

Swimming Like Fish

Ada went swimming for the first time!
The pool was finally warm enough for the girls to play in, and Dan decided to have a swim day! I came home from work to find my darlings splish splashing around! Ada takes after her big sister in the sense that she is a true water baby - she was kicking around like crazy and really having fun!

Four Generations of Ladies

We took an afternoon a few weeks ago to visit my Great-Grandma Stringer (my mom's grandma). She was very happy to see us and was quite entertained with Tehya and Ada. Tehya was amazed that she saw one of her baby pictures on Grandma's photo board! I thought it was pretty neat that we had four generations of women in the same room together as that doesn't happen very often anymore. Great-Grandma will be 98 in November!

More Garden Updates

I can't help it, my gardens growing thrill me to no end! Here are a couple of updated photos - although next spring it will be so much better once everything is in bloom! I have more 'hand me down' plants to get in the ground this weekend which I am very excited for!
Tehya is becoming more of a green thumb every time I look - that girl knows the name of almost every plant we have and LIKES pulling weeds with me! She must have inherited those genes from Grandma Sue!

New Lilac Hedge

I am overly excited that I found a shrub sale at our local garden center - all shrubs 50% off! I purchased a bunch of lilacs (all dark and light purple varieties of course) and decided to start a hedge on our property line between our one neighbor. Digging them in was HARD work as I have discovered our front yard must be made out of granite, however it was well worth it because they look great!
I can't wait for them to start filling in!
