Dan and I were invited up to our favorite getaway town, Bayfield, for a weekend bash celebrating the new year. It was a formal 'fun' party that we were quite excited to be a part of! I got to wear one of the bridesmaid dresses from our wedding! The Dan's all went in matching outfits and were the hit of the party!
Ada decided that the she was a better fit for the rubbermaid than the bath toys that were supposed to be in it. For over an hour she played with it, and even got Tehya to push her around!
The day after Christmas is when Dan, the girls and I opened our gifts between eachother. The girls and I surprised Dan with RockBand...although as you can see from the picture it quickly became a family gift! Ada is quite enamored with the drum set
Tehya was pleased with the ballerina necklace she got...mainly because she said it was REAL jewlery...not that kid stuff we usually make her have!
Ada waiting patientally for more gifts to come from under the tree. Lately if you tell her "no touch" she will clasp her hands behind her back like this! If only daddy listened that well..... hahahaha!
The girls in their beautiful Christmas dresses from Grandma Sue
A painting for the girls' room from GG and Papa Charlie -
it's so cute I can hardly stand it!
The girls are now sharing a bedroom since we turned the downstairs room into a play room. Grandma Sue greatly helped this effort in giving both the girls new bedding sets along with new dressers for their room. The fun thing for me is that these dressers have been in our family for years...I used them when I was little! A few coats of paint and some fancy artwork and Grandma Sue had them looking spectacular!
Before I could get Ada's pjs on her for the night she decided she needed to relax right on Grandma Sue's floor. She grabbed the pillow off the chair, covered up with a blanket and was set! The bear (also from GG and Papa Charlie) has become her new favorite friend and hasn't hardly left her side since Christmas! She calls him "Berr", which is her way of saying bear, and tries to sing along to the activities he has!
There are two gifts that I received that I dont have pictures of yet, but they absolutely made my night. My brother gave me the most beautiful stained glass lamp I have ever seen - and it is shaped like a butterfly! I cant wait until Dan and I get it hung up. Secondly, my mom gave Dan and I a set of handcrafted "gongs" that she had blacksmithed for us. They are like the ones she has in her front yard that I have coveted for years now...I can't wait until the ground thaws and we can put them up!
The big highlight of Christmas morning was of course waking up to see what Santa left us. Tehya was thrilled that she got exactly what she asked him for when she sat on his lap...a real guitar! Ada got a coordinating drum and the girls spent all morning showing off their rock and roll skills!
Grandma Diane modeling the sleep mask that came with her spa basket...how lovely looking! Grandma Diane and all her girls - (From Left) Lauren, Diane, Ada, Kathryn, Tehya
For some reason we dont have very many pictures from our Christmas Eve celebration with our Milbrandt side at Dave and Becky's house this year. I think Mom was too busy enjoying her wine with the ladies to get the camera out much!
As you can see from the pictures, Tehya was not nearly as excited as I was for the flower headbands I found at the dollar store for her dressup collection. Oh well, I got some giggles out of them at least!
I snapped these pictures the other morning when I caught Tehya trying to do Ada's hair for her. Ada didn't seem to mind...except for when Tehya got the comb caught in her curls and yanked on them! "It's not my fault mom - she has squishy hair" is what Tehya told me.
