New Landscaping Project Phase 2

The startings of another rock wall garden border - this time in the front of the house! (yes we have decided that we are gluttons for punishment!)
Dan's mom and his brothers family came over on Memorial Day to play in the rocks with us. Becky had some great ideas on the front garden layout and I can't wait to get it finished!
More pictures will follow soon - our front yard is really starting to come together! Thanks to all the Milbrandt's for the help today!

CheeseBalls!

Now thats a big bucket of cheeseballs!
Ada was pretty sure she needed to get it open
That look just says "Dad, enough pictures - come help me!"

Tornado Hits Hugo

Sunday evening around 5pm an F3 class Tornado hit the town of Hugo. The twister touched down about a mile up the road from our house and left devistation in its wake. Several families are without homes, a 2 year old little boy lost his life and there are millions of dollars of property damage. A large majority of the town was evacuated from their homes due to gas leaks from the destroyed homes. Over half the town lost their power and for hours there were over a hundred people that were considered as missing. The elementary school was turned into a makeshift shelter where reports say medical attention was given to over 200 people that were injured in the storm. The storm itself lasted about 5 minutes, and as scary as it was, we got off lightly compared to others so close to us. The summer will be filled with sounds of repairs.
The average size of hail that hit our area was about the size of a golf ball. It sounded like a machine gun was shooting them out at our house they were coming down so fast.
3 sides of our house have hail damage. You can see some of the holes in this picture. We will need all new siding, soffits, facia and roof. We also had hail damage to our trailer that was sitting in the driveway.
I was amazed that even though there are holes in the siding right around it, my favorite ceramic planter doesnt have a scratch on it. My flowers in all my gardens and planters were shredded.
A hole in our kitchen window screen - look how big that is! We know how lucky we are to have our lives and good health after this storm hit so close to us. Thank you to all of you that called and sent text messages to check in on us...it is heartwarming to know that so many people care. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine the little town of Hugo would be the center of attention on the news!

New Landscaping Project

The starts of a new landscaping project at our house
3 dump trailers of field stone courtesy of Anderson Farms - thanks SO much guys!
Before shot with one load of rock dumped
Second day of a back breaking endeavor - a rock wall border for my new garden!
Still a work in progress...but definately a step in the right direction!

Contained and Content

After the Tupperware incident (see post below) we would attempt to contain Ada for a moment...
It started off as a joke, but she actually got upset when we tried to take her out of the laundry basket!
She apparently thought her new 'playpen' was pretty cool!

Caught Red Handed

Ada discovered the Tupperware cabinet - and thought it was quite entertaining!
How could a Mom be mad at a face like this?
Even as I started to clean up the mess, the cupboard opened again and there went the Tupperware back onto the floor!
Ada was very content with her new found toys!

Eating Makes Me Tired!

The obliglatory kid falls asleep in highchair eating pictures...to cute to resist posting!

Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend

The day finally came that Tehya convinced Daddy that she was old enough to get her ears pierced. She was SO excited when we went to the store! Despite Mom trying to convince her to get her birthstones, Tehya decided that she wanted diamond earrings like Grandma Sue!
Once the marks were drawn on each ear, Mom got smart and asked the nice ladies at the store if they could pierce both ears at the same time. They agreed and even gave Tehya a teddy to hold on to!
Tehya was quite upset when the piercing took place - apparently it hurt WAY BADDER THAN YOU SAID IT WOULD MOM!!!!
Ice cubes were applied and after promising we could buy more earrings soon Tehya was quite happy with her "big girl earrings".
