Family Photos

We had family photos taken a few weeks ago, and they turned out great! My friend Nicky Clark (Niks Pics) met us at Como Park for an hour and these are some of the shots she got for us. She does a fantastic job!

Wednesday

Abundance of Opportunity...

We have some exciting news at our house...albeit a little scary at the same time.
I was laid off on Monday, meaning I now have the opportunity to find another place of employment that hopefully wont require me to commute for multiple hours a day!
Due to financial reasons several employees were let go over the past few months, and apparently Monday it was my turn to go. After almost 8 years of working there I am obviously saddened and surprised by this change of events, but am also excited for the changes it may bring for our family. Dan is quite excited too as he is hoping I will now have some time at home while doing my job search to get all those "some day" projects taken care of!
If anyone knows of an opportunity that may fit my qualifications I would be more than interested to hear about it - otherwise now is the time to schedule those get togethers that I hardly had time for before! :)

Sunday

Ada's new Bear

Beth made a knitted bear and gave it to Ada - Ada adores it!
When Dan and I got home from Applefest and gave the bear to Ada she squealed in delight and walked around the house with it for hours!
Hey Beth, this is Ada's Thank you face!

Applefest 2008

We had another great Applefest celebration up in Bayfield. Dan and I left town early and had almost 2 full days at the cabin to relax before everyone arrived and the partying began! We had 8 people this year, which was a blast!
Dylan and Alicia, Beth and John, Jake and Mona and Dan and I had a great weekend. Lots of great food, plenty of cocktails, and a ferry ride over to Madeline Island where we rented mopeds and had our own "bike gang" helped to make a memorable time.
This is what happens when Dan has control of the camera - we get pictures of me growling at him! :)

Girls Fun Adventure Trip

In celebration of my moms 50th Birthday, and as an excuse to get a bunch of gals together there were 8 of us that took a Mystery Bus Tour weekend trip through a company named Girls Fun Adventures.
With no idea where we were going, the 8 of us boarded the bus in our matching Princess gear (our groups theme) and headed out for a weekend of lots of laughs.
Above is my cousin Oni and I modeling Vikings helmets at the carrousel in Storybook, Iowa. Personally I think we look pretty hot.

Here is the birthday girl on her white horse

And all 8 of us in front of the only remaining swing bridge in the state of Iowa.

Group pose at the worlds largest pitchfork...now come on - where else are you going to find this sort of fun?!?!

We had a great time laughing until we cried a few times...and spit marshmallows out of our mouths a few others. We shopped, explored, played games, had a few cocktails and so much more...all in all a great trip!

Family Photos

It's that time of year again - Family Pictures!
Ada was not very enthused about getting ready...

Tehya was hamming it up as usual....
Oh boy it's going to be an interesting day!

We should be getting our session pictures back soon...

I am just hoping we got a couple of good ones to share!

Fun in the Tub

I am fully aware that these are the types of pictures that the girls will forever be embarassed about....

but isnt that my duty as a mother?

Monday

Ada's Birthday Party

We had Ada's birthday party on Sunday and had a great turn out! All of her friends and family were there to celebrate her special day...
Ada did really well opening her gifts, and oh my goodness were there a lot of them! She got some adorable new clothes, lots of fun new toys and a couple of gigantic fuzzy animals! Uncle Jake got her a big hot pink fuzzy teddy bear that she fell asleep on in her crib Sunday night. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen, that is until she woke up Monday morning with a mouth full of pink fur!
Ada's very own birthday cake. She was much more tentative with this than she was with her cupcake a week ago...maybe she learned her lesson that frosting up the nose isnt so much fun?
Tehya picked out Ada's cake for her. It was decided that care bears was a good choice because it came with toys on top that you can keep!

Balloon time

We got a few balloons to decorate the house for Ada's birthday party - she thought they were so fun!
Even more fun was when mom showed her how to rub the balloons on her head and then bop mom in the face with them! Ada was all giggles!

Pictures with GG and Papa Charlie

Uncle Jake had a house warming party at his new house and the girls got to spend some time with Great Grandma Dixie and Papa Charlie.
Look at those smiles!
Ada was showing off her baby to GG - and all smiles while doing it!

Happy Birthday Ada!

August 21 - Ada turns 1 year old! We had a special dinner for her with fun birthday cupcakes that Tehya picked out for desert.
It didn't take long at all for Ada to decide that she really likes cupcakes!
I have to say, this is one of the cutest pictures of Ada I have to date - how can you not smile when you look at this face? (ok, I admit, a little bit of mommy bias there!)
Um, nope. Sorry. Not going to pick you up right now!
All done! The cupcake is demolished and frosting made it into enough places to call this mission a success! Happy Birthday Ada!

Princess Chairs for the Princess'

Mom bought each of the girls a Disney Princess lounge chair - and they both love them! Ada thinks it is really funny that she can climb in and out of it, and even tries to climb in with Tehya so they can sit together!

Off to the Races!

Dan and Tehya headed up to Brainerd International Raceway for the NHRA drag racing championship - They had a great time! Tehya thought it was cool that she got to camp with dad for a whole weekend and thought the cars were "super awesome just like on tv!"
Tehya showing off how hot it was sitting in the stands! Their seats were right by Grandma Sue, Uncle Jay, Aunt Anita and Dave and Lee Wachter - how cool is that!
Tehya has decided that Ashley Force is her very favorite driver. (Dad sorta likes her too, although mom is suspicious it is for other reasons than her driving skills!) Tehya got an Ashley t-shirt and even got it signed by Ashley! She came home and told me that I could never ever wash it or it would wash off!

Sleeping Baby

We were visiting Dylan and Alicia for an evening and Ada apparently had enough before the rest of us did - she was cozy and snoring in their big leather living room chair and it was just too darn cute for me not to take pictures of!

Relay for Life 2008

This was the Krisnik family's 5th year participating in the Eagan Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. This was mom's 4th year serving as committee chair and she has decided to step down so that she can participate more with our family's team and other special projects for the ACS. I have decided to remain on the committee for another year (this was my third) in the Luminaria seat. My best friend Steph has co-chaired the position with me for the past 2 years and I dont know what I would do without her! This year we had over 1200 luminaria bags that lined both the inside and outside rings of the walking track - it was beautiful!
I am SO proud of my mom and the wonderful tribute to my dad that she has provided through all of her hard work and dedication to the cause. Because of her there are more and more families every year that benefit from the wonderful things ACS can provide to people and their loved ones while going through a cancer diagnosis.
ACS and our committee presented mom with a beautiful crystal flower vase engraved with our appreciation for her work. She was very surprised, as we knew she would be! I am so proud of my mom - and I know my dad is too.
Nana Yvonne was at the Relay and got to spend some cuddle time with Ada- it looks like they both enjoyed that!
